Electric Guitars

Found out today how much tone changes when you simply move the mic across the amp’s face. As it turns out, by placing a small diaphragm mic at the center of the speaker, it makes a very full and fat sound, whereas if you place it near the edge of the speaker, it sounds much darker and further away. If you do the same with the large diaphragm mic, you will get a really hot sounding guitar, vs the edge which will give you again a more muffled or dark sound. It’s interesting to see how changing the position of the mic can change the sound so drastically. Also, this allows for so many extra options as far as the sound you re going for, or how much depth you are wanting. This could also really help with using multiple mics on an amp, as you can mix between the sounds to get a more rich sound.

With this in combination with any other sort of pedals, amps, guitars, and you have yourself a really nice way of getting the best tone.
